The association "Lebenshilfe Ludwigshafen/Rhein e.V." for people with intellectual disabilities is a nonprofit organization. In our facilities and services, people with intellectual disabilities receive support, companionship, and promotion for participation in social life. The residential area provides a home for approximately 250 people with disabilities in several houses with special living arrangements and various outpatient living forms.

Our Daycare centers accompany and support a total of 84 adults with severe multiple disabilities. In the inclusive Daycare center "Sonnenblume," 60 children with disabilities participate in therapeutic education, and 40 children without disabilities are integrated into groups with individual support offerings. The „Offene Hilfen gGmbH“ offer assistance and support in the areas of leisure and education to children, adolescents, and adults with intellectual disabilities, relieving families through personalized services. Professionals in education and care, the service departments of the headquarters, as well as volunteers, work together to promote the participation of people with intellectual disabilities.

Responsibilities include carrying out pedagogical and nursing activities to support the participation of intellectually disabled people in everyday life:

  • Support and care for people with disabilities: Planning, implementation, and documentation of individual care and support measures, taking into account the respective needs and abilities of the clients.
  • Promotion of independence: Development of targeted activities to promote practical life skills, social integration, and communication skills of the individuals under care.
  • Nursing tasks: Undertaking nursing activities such as personal hygiene, assistance with eating, and administering medication.
  • Development of plans: Development, implementation, and monitoring of individual support and development plans in consultation with clients, their families, and other professionals.
  • Documentation: Careful documentation of all relevant measures, observations, and progress of the individuals under care in accordance with legal requirements.

Required skills:

  • A completed 3-year vocational training in therapeutic education, elderly care, or health and nursing or as an educator.
  • To learn and apply the German language with enthusiasm for effective communication with our customers and within the team, using our training! 
  • Empathy in the care and support of people with intellectual disabilities or multiple disabilities.
  • Action plans in collaboration with your supervisor.
  • Development plans / support planning / participation plans in collaboration with your supervisor.
  • Adherence to organizational specifications (especially responsibilities).
  • Compliance with service and procedural instructions.
  • Professional and social competence.
  • Willingness to work in shifts, on weekends, and holidays.
